What’s to know about me?

I’m nobody special, but I’m in good company.  There’s lots of us out here in the big blog world, writing away to our hearts content.

I’m interested in yarn, knitting, cats, and dead people, not necessarily in that order.

Click on over to my Etsy shop!  There are no dead people there, I promise, but yarn, knitting, and cats?  Go see for yourself.

Hi Ruth – I’ve been a reader (and fan!) of your blog for several years. My research on the Gamble family led me to you. I believe I’m a descendant of Josias Gamble and was hoping you could confirm that Andrew Davidson Gamble (Mexia, Texas) is related to Josias. If so, I assume I’ll be able to use Josias as my patriot when applying for DAR membership. I hope I’m not imposing too much by asking for your help. I would so appreciate it. Much mahalo and aloha! Hello, Cousin Jennifer! Yes, Andrew Davidson Gamble is a descendant of Josias Gamble. I had help with my DAR application from a woman who lived in Mexia, TX, so it’s time for me to pay it forward.

Hi Ruth! Thanks for the quick reply! I don’t use Facebook, so the best means of communication with me is via this email address. Is that ok?

My mom was Betty Jo Gamble Neel (Mexia).
Betty’s mother was Mattie Aline Gamble. (Normangee and Mexia).
Aline’s father was James Larkin Gamble who was the son of Andrew Davidson Gamble and Louisa Robertson (Mexia).
It’s my understanding that Andrew was the son of Josias Gamble and Mary Henry.
Thanks in advance for any advice or guidance, cousin!!

My wife Martha Lee (McDowell) Hughes is a g. granddaughter of Adolphus (Andrew) Davidson and Louisa Robertson Gamble of Mexia, TX. Her grandmother was Elzada Gamble, their youngest daughter and a sister to James L. Gamble.

I have completed a preliminary genealogy/history of their family along with a history of the great 1920’s Mexia Oil Boom.

My wife and I would like to communicate with any descendants of the Adolphus and Louisa Gamble family.
