Calberta Bowden was a local artist in Lenoir City. She made this in 1977. It was among my mother’s things.
Here’s a link to a Wikipedia article about Lenoir City. I know, I know, say what you will about Wikipedia, but for my purposes, it’s a good article.
Mrs. Bowden’s daughter was my 4th grade teacher. She gave us lots of art and music time. I don’t remember much about 4th grade, except she was a sweet teacher, kind and pretty and well-groomed, and now I know why she encouraged art and music.
I just might have to make a family tree for her.

I remember in second grade going to this station and getting on a train that took us to Knoxville. I think we rode a school bus back but I still have that train ticket somewhere.

Oooh, Linda, LUCKY!! When I was in first grade, all the first grade classes rode the train to Loudon. Did we ride back? I don’t remember. The only thing I remember is going over the river on that train bridge. I think I was scarred for life. SCARY.

That’s awesome! And I always look for a Wikipedia article if I’m researching something – if it’s well written, there are great resource links at the bottom. haha
